Provident Path Academy — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-06-02 · Version 1.2

1. Who We Are

Provident Path Academy ("we," "us") is a parent-led homeschool curriculum and resource provider. We are not a school. The Parent who creates the account is the educator of record and the responsible party for any child whose information is recorded on the Platform.

Because we are not a school or other "educational agency or institution," the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) does not apply to us, and we do not maintain official institutional education records. The information in your account is your own parent-directed homeschool record — not an education record kept by an institution on your behalf.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Parent account information — a display name you choose (we deliberately do not collect legal names), your email address, your password (stored only as a salted hash), and your state of residence.
  • Child profile information — a display name or nickname you choose (not the child's legal name), grade/curriculum level, whether the child reads independently, and a chosen avatar, all entered by the Parent. We do not collect children's last names or dates of birth.
  • Educational activity — lesson views and assignment completion status (whether, and when, an activity was finished), plus instructional-hour and attendance logs used for the homeschool portfolio, generated by the child's use of the Platform under the Parent account. Assignments are graded in your browser to give instant feedback, but we do not store your child's individual answers or scores — only whether each item was completed.
  • Technical information — we do not store IP addresses, and we do not run web-analytics, advertising, or behavioral-tracking systems. Our hosting infrastructure may transiently process standard request metadata (such as browser type) to deliver and secure the site, but we do not build visitor profiles.
  • Communications — messages you send us (support, feedback) and our responses.

3. Children Under 13 (COPPA)

The Platform is designed to be used by Parents on behalf of their children, including children under 13. We rely on the Parent's verifiable affirmative consent (granted at account creation) to collect, use, and store information about the child for the purpose of providing the educational service.

Children do not have their own accounts or login credentials — they access the Platform only through the Parent's authenticated session. We do not collect any contact information (such as an email address or phone number) for a child.

We do not use children's information to serve targeted advertising, do not sell or rent children's information, and do not condition a child's participation in any educational activity on the disclosure of more information than is reasonably necessary.

Parents may review, correct, or delete their child's information, or withdraw consent to further collection, at any time by emailing admin@providentpathacademy.com.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide curriculum content, lessons, assignments, and progress tracking to the child under the Parent's account.
  • Maintain Parent-accessible completion and instructional-hour records for use in the homeschool portfolio.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Platform.
  • Respond to Parent inquiries and provide support.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or security risks.
  • Comply with applicable law.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described below:

  • Service providers we use to operate the Platform — hosting, database, email delivery, error monitoring — bound by contractual confidentiality and use-limitation obligations.
  • Legal compliance — to comply with a court order, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice and continued protection.
  • At the Parent's direction — for example, when the Parent exports a portfolio PDF and shares it with an evaluator.

6. Data Retention

We retain Parent and child information for as long as the account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to support state-required homeschool recordkeeping (typically two years, per New Hampshire RSA 193-A and similar statutes elsewhere). Parents may request earlier deletion via email.

You are responsible for your own records. Provident Path Academy is not your official repository or system of record. You should download and maintain your own copies of any records, portfolios, or exports you may need for legal compliance, and should not rely on the Platform as your sole or permanent store of those records.

7. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect Platform data, including encryption in transit (TLS), password hashing (salted), access controls, and routine backups. No security system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of any information transmitted to or from the Platform.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email admin@providentpathacademy.com from the email address associated with the account.

9. Third-Party Links and Content

The Platform may link to or surface third-party content (e.g., public-domain books, public-domain art). We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites linked from the Platform.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and operate basic Platform features. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral-advertising trackers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or in-Platform notice prior to taking effect. The version date is shown at the top of this page.
